Every beat on this site is sold and licensed through BeatStars. This page explains how that works in plain language. If anything here differs from the license shown on a beat’s BeatStars page or in your purchase receipt, the license on BeatStars is the one that applies to you.
How licensing works
When you buy a beat you are buying a license to use it in your music, not ownership of the beat itself. The producer, DJAquafina, keeps the copyright in every instrumental. Your license says what you may do with the beat: for example how you can release the song, where you can perform it, and how many streams or copies are covered.
Choosing a license
Each beat lists the license options available for it on its BeatStars page, with the files, terms and price for each. In general, non-exclusive licenses let other artists license the same beat too, while an exclusive license takes the beat off sale so the song you make is the only one that uses it. Read the terms on the beat’s page before you buy, since what is included can differ from beat to beat.
What you get after purchase
BeatStars emails you the files for your license and a copy of the license agreement. Keep that email: it is your proof of license.
Crediting the producer
Unless your license says otherwise, please credit the beat wherever your song is released, for example: Prod. by DJAquafina.
What is not allowed
Unless your license explicitly says you can, you may not:
- Resell, share, or give away the beat or its files on their own.
- Claim you produced or own the instrumental.
- Register the finished song with content identification systems in a way that blocks other legitimate licensees of the same beat.
- Use a beat in a way that is unlawful or that promotes hate or harassment.
Custom beats, mixing and mastering
Work done for you directly, such as a custom beat, a mix, or a master, is agreed when you book. Ownership and usage for that work are confirmed with you in writing before the project starts.
